An inclusive handbook for textile professionals

The goal
The handbook will be a hands-on guide for textile experts on topics such as: -Awareness-raising about the current state of play among EU countries in terms of environmental initiatives and gender justice for sustainability -Providing ground rules and winning practices for clothing upcycling through gender-sensitive training methods.

The target group
Among the target groups are textile professionals (manufacturers, designers, colorists, stylists, converters, etc.) who are interested in or already undertaking initiatives towards environmental sustainability.
In addition, there are VET & Textile experts who are willing to actively participate in an open dialogue about green methods that establish the importance of gender equality for the ecosystem.
Innovation
This proposal's innovative nature lies in the fact that gender equality and its relationship to the environment has recently attracted much attention. As identified in the preparatory research conducted by partners, there is no evidence that gender-based training practices and policies exist to promote environmental sustainability, especially for clothing upcycling. Data collected indicates insufficient promotion of the two topics (gender justice, environmental sustainability), which leads to industries falling behind in consciously participating in environmental activities that take into consideration different gender roles. Therefore, the current PR will fill the gap that appears to exist which is relevant among all EU countries as revealed in the Institute European Environmental Policy.
Impact
Partnership is already conscious of the urgent need and value of acquiring a comprehensive understanding of all the issues related to environmental awareness and consciousness as well as the importance of empowering women for sustainable development. In order to design complementary digital tools that address the needs of textile industry experts, mapping, analysis, and validation of winning practices and methods of encouraging responsible pro-environmental behaviors are of utmost importance. In this way, the guide will be an ideal tool in the hands of professionals to assist them in promoting the project initiatives.
